Last weekend, the Kindergartners were in the Autumn Festival Parade, and boy, was it hot!!  But we made it!!  We rode on our own float (created by some AWESOME Kindergarten parents)--it said WELCOME TO THE KINDERGARTEN JUNGLE.  The theme this year for the whole parade was Welcome to the Jungle.

Our float looked so good--cute palm trees, zebra stripes, and tiger faces we made in class!  We also got to wear some pretty cool safari hats!

Annnddddd, OUR FLOAT WON FIRST PLACE!!  YAY!!

I want to thank all the parents who volunteered their time to help decorate our float, brought snacks and water, and drove the float!  Thank you SOOOO much! I appreciate it!

The first day of Kindergarten was a success! Hopefully your child told you all about the fun things we did today!  We read a few books about going back to school/summer--The Kissing Hand and How I Spent My Summer Vacation.

We also went over the rules and routines in Kindergarten.  They all did pretty well for the first day--but we will keep practicing, of course!

The Kindergartners drew self-portraits and a portrait of Mrs. Myers (I look very pretty in all of them!).  We will draw self-portraits at the end of the year and then compare the two...the difference will be amazing!

Next week, we will get into subject areas (math, reading, etc.) in more depth!

1 day down, 169 to go!

HI! I'm Mrs. Ashley Myers.  I teach Kindergarten at South Holt! This year (2013-2014) will be my third  year teaching.  I couldn't ask for a better grade--I absolutely love it!  I can't wait to get to know your Kindergartener this year.  And so you can get to know your student's teacher a little better, here's a bit about me...

I am from Maryville and still live there.  I graduated from Northwest Missouri State University (GO BEARCATS!).

My husband, Ian, and I were married in July of 2010.  Ian is a Sheriff's Deputy for Nodaway County.

We have two dogs--Zoey, a Bichon Frise (a little, fluffy white dog), and Sisko, a mini-Dachshund (even though there is nothing mini about this chubby dog).  They provide us with lots of entertainment, and we love them a lot!

In my free time, I like to read a lot (especially Harry Potter) and spend time with my husband, dogs, and family.  I also enjoy going to Bearcat football games and Royals baseball games.
